Our Dummy parties seem to be going pretty well. Last time we were entertained by ace big-stage antipodeans Lost Valentinos (single out now on Dummy records, folks!!), ably backed up with the summer sound of 2009, from My Tiger My Timing. Thanks to them both.
The next party is on July 10th, from 8-2 a.m. Free before 10, £3 thereafter. Guests will include a few of our favourite new bands:
O. Children (www.myspace.com/ochildren), Solid Gold (www.myspace.com/solidgoldband) and The Binary Kids, fresh from their tour with Lady Sovereign (www.myspace.com/thebinarykids). Plus DJ's Stopmakingme (download his ace mix on the Dummy site), Johnno, L'Anorak and Bruce Leo.
We look forward to seeing you. Take Saturday OFF.

The Italians Do It Better mob roll into Koko the day after tomorrow, with Lindstrom playing too (his only London headline date this year, h'apparently). New major crush bands Desire and Twisted Wires are playing, with Glass Candy and Mike Simonetti, obviously. When I asked the press person why the party was happening, she was like "DISCO is the reason." Which it totally, totally is, always.

Ridiculously good new vid from We Have Band. Makes us want to get the face paints out too.

Going on from their recent awesome-art-vaguely-related-to-music exhibitions John Squire: New Work and Edwyn Collins: British Birdlife (which was really moving), The Smithfield in Farringdon are hosting United Visual Artists' series of light-filled balloons photographed at night in post-industrial landscapes, which is called Deus. As their day job, UVA make light-based art for – among others – Warp Films, Massive Attack, Battles, the Dissonanze Festival in Rome and, perhaps more surprisingly, Arctic Monkeys. Uh, the pictures look really good, don't they?
